A Narberth man charged with using threatening and insulting behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress, has been handed a community order and curfew.

Thirty-nine-year-old Paul Deary, of Market Street, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to the charge which occurred on May 10 in Narberth.

The court heard that the offence was aggravated due to the hostility shown by the defendant based on the sexual orientation (or presumed sexual orientation) of the victim.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones also explained that the offence took place whilst Mr Deary was subject to a conditional discharge order for a period of 12 months imposed in March at Aberystwyth Magistrates Court for an offence of stealing a bottle of gin, belonging to Aldi Stores in Cardigan.

Magistrates handed Mr. Deary a 12 month community order, stating that he must also comply with the requirements of a curfew with electronic monitoring for a four month period, daily between 8 pm and 6 am.

Conditions of the community order also included a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and an £85 victim surcharge.
