A Milford motorist has been handed a driving ban after being caught behind the wheel with a quantity of cocaine in his system.
Twenty-four-year-old Edward John Adams, of Thornton Road, Steynton, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to a charge of driving a Vauxhall Astra, with the drug in his system.
Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that on March 20, police officers on duty in the Haverfordwest area pulled Mr. Adams over on old Hakin Road, Merlins Bridge, for a moving traffic offence.
“A roadside test was conducted and proved positive. After the sample had been sent off for analysis, it came back showing traces of cocaine.
“Mr. Adams has one matter previously on record for dangerous driving in 2014, for which he was given a suspended term of imprisonment,” he added.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client, who worked as a sub-contractor, had taken some cocaine 48 hours earlier.
Magistrates fined the defendant £80 for the offence and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
Mr. Adams was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
