A Milford motorist has been banned from driving for 15 months after admitting a drink-drive charge in court.

Thirty-four-year-old Lisa Thomas, of Vicary Street, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of driving her Toyota Yaris after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that the incident occurred on May 29, when Miss Thomas was involved in a road traffic collision on Pill Road in Milford Haven.

“The defendant’s vehicle collided with a parked vehicle and rolled onto its roof. She notified the police as her car was blocking the road.

“A police assessment showed that the defendant’s vehicle had actually collided with two parked cars, a blue Fiat and a red Ford Fiesta, causing heavy damage to them,” she said.

Miss Thomas took a roadside test which proved positive and after her arrest she gave a reading of 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath at the police station.

In a police interview, Miss Thomas said that she’d been to the Astoria pub and consumed some wine, before getting a taxi home, but then went back out in her car.

“She thought that she was ok to drive and wouldn’t be over the limit as her last drink had been two hours previously,” continued Miss Morgan.

Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that his client, who was of clean character, did not know where she was driving to.

“The only place she could have been going to she thinks was to visit her mother in Hakin who was looking after her children,” he said.

Magistrates disqualified Miss Thomas from driving for 15 months and fined her £120 for the offence.

She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
