A Milford motorist has been banned from driving after failing to provide a specimen for analysis after being suspected of drink-driving.
Thirty-four-year-old Jessica Rose Dando, of Westaway Park, Rosemarket, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court, on Tuesday, to plead guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that Miss Dando was involved in a road traffic collision on November 27, in Haverfordwest, where police officers were in attendance.
“The road traffic collision was between two vehicles, one left the scene, and Miss Dando was sat in the passenger seat of hers when officers arrived, and told them that she had been driving the vehicle.
“There was a strong smell of intoxicants and when officers asked her if she had been drinking, she started to cry,” he explained.
When asked to take a roadside test and provide a sample, Miss Dando responded buy saying ‘what’s the point?’
When arrested and taken to the police station, she provided one sample, but didn’t provide the second, and gave no medical reasons as to why she couldn’t, and was released and charged with failing to supply a specimen.
Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that his client didn’t accept that the collision was her fault.
“She wasn’t being difficult in not taking the test, she was just making the point that she knew she was over the limit,” he said.
Magistrates disqualified Miss Dando from driving for 17 months, and fined her £120.
She was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
