A Milford Haven man who went on a shoplifting spree in the lead up to Christmas, stealing cosmetics and clothing has appeared in court.
Twenty-five-year-old Chad Alex Forrest, of Nubian Crescent, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of theft, having admitted stealing items to the value of £141.50 from the Debenhams store in Haverfordwest on November 8.
Prosecutor Sophie Hill told the court that the defendant and a female were seen entering the store, and taking a number of items.
“Staff followed the two individuals out of the store and instructed them to return. All the items were recovered.
“Mr. Forrest has a limited antecedent history, which includes aggravated vehicle taking,” she added.
Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that Mr. Forrest, who occasionally carried out work as a scaffolder, handed the stolen items back to the store detective immediately and was co-operative with police officers when interviewed.
“He doesn’t know why he committed the offence, but it was approaching Christmas time,” he explained.
Magistrates fined the defendant £100 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
