A man from Milford Haven has been banned from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle for a year, after admitting driving with cannabis in his system.

Forty-four-year-old Ralph Cullen, of Charles Street, pleaded guilty to driving his Ford Mondeo on the A4076 at Merlins Bridge, with 3.7 micrograms per litre of cannabis in his blood, when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that the defendant was stopped by police on duty in the area by the roadside.

Defence solicitor Katy Hanson told the court that her client had smoked cannabis the night before and not on the day he was stopped.

“He did not believe his driving was impaired and since the incident Mr. Cullen has stopped using cannabis,” she said.

Magistrates fined the defendant £120 for the offence and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge. Mr. Cullen was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
