A Milford Haven man who grew 15 cannabis plants in his own bedroom has been handed a community order after admitting the charge in court.
Twenty-two-year-old Daniel Thomas Fairlie, of Chestnut Way, Mount Estate, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that police officers attended Mr. Fairlie’s home address on February 2, with a search warrant.
Officers found a set up of a tent with lights, extractor fans, and 15 medium sized cannabis plants growing in the defendant’s bedroom.
“He told officers that he was growing the plants for his own personal use, and that nobody else was involved, and he was not doing it to make any money.
“Mr. Fairlie said that he had borrowed the equipment from a friend and read up on it lots as he didn’t want to do it wrong,” continued Ms Morgan.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that they were not big plants being grown and that his client had no intention whatsoever of selling any of the cannabis.
Magistrates gave Mr. Fairlie a 12-month community order, with conditions to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and an £85 victim surcharge.
