A report to Milford Haven Coastguard from a kayaker stating that he was lost in fog resulted in Tenby’s RNLI all-weather lifeboat Haydn Miller launching shortly after 9 am on Monday.

The kayak’s last known position was somewhere between Pendine and Cefn Sidan sands.

Other units also tasked were Ferryside inshore rescue boat and Tenby, Ferryside and Burry Port coastguard units.

The lifeboat was quickly on the water and made best speed to the scene where the volunteer crew attempted to locate the casualty using a variety of equipment, including the VHF direction finder and radar.

As the lifeboat was approaching Cefn Sidan, Ferryside inshore rescue boat reported they had located the casualty and were in the process of taking him aboard before returning with him to station.

With the casualty found safe and well, the Haydn Miller was stood down and returned to station, arriving at 10.20 am.
