A Pembroke Dock man has appeared in court after being found in possession of heroin and cannabis after a stop and search check by police.
Thirty-seven-year-old John Eaton, of London Road, pleaded guilty to charges of possessing 1.5 grams of heroin; and 1.8 grams of cannabis, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that on July 15 police officers carried out a ‘stop and search’ on the defendant in Haverfordwest and found the drugs.
The heroin was said to have a street value of £150 and the cannabis £14 to £18 she told the court.
“He told officers when interviewed that the drugs were for his own personal use,” she explained.
Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that even though his client had a history of drugs offences to his name, including production as well as possession, he has recently contacted his GP to make steps to address his issues.
He told the court that Mr. Eaton’s drug use had stemmed from unresolved bereavement issues, after losing his partner and father.
Magistrates fined the defendant £80 for each offence, and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge. The forfeiture and destruction of the drugs was also passed.
