Tenby’s RNLI all-weather lifeboat ‘Haydn Miller’ launched at around 2.15 pm on Monday after Milford Haven Coastguard received a call that there was someone possibly in trouble in the water off Trewent Point, near Freshwater East.

The lifeboat was quickly on the water, with the volunteer crew covering the seven-and-a-half-mile distance in around 15 minutes.

Once on scene, the lifeboat was directed to the casualty position by the MOD Range Safety vessel ‘Smit Penally’, which had answered the Coastguard’s call for any vessel in the area to assist. The casualty wasn’t in the water, but was stuck on rocks after becoming cut off by the incoming tide whilst walking earlier.

The volunteer crew launched the Y-boat and went into the rocks, where the relieved gentleman was taken aboard, before being checked over and then dropped ashore at Freshwater East, where members of Tenby and St Govans Cliff Rescue Teams were waiting for him.

The lifeboat then returned to station, arriving at 3.15 pm.
