Recently, members of Tenby and Saundersfoot Community First Responders visited New Minerton Leisure Park and were presented with a cheque for £1699.91.
The First Responders are New Minerton’s chosen charity for 2019 and the money was raised during their annual Funday back in August.
Tony Wall of the First Responders said: “We are extremely grateful that New Minerton Leisure Park made us their chosen charity for this year and this very generous donation will be put to good use in upgrading some of the older defibrillator cabinets that we have placed around Pembrokeshire.
“A big thanks to Dan and the rest of the management team and staff at New Minerton for making us feel so welcome at their Funday in August.”
Community First Responders are trained by the Welsh Ambulance Service and attend 999 calls on their behalf, often arriving on scene before the Ambulance crews and able to provide immediate life-saving treatment until they arrive.
They also have specialist equipment enabling them to attend falls patients where there are no injuries, but which normally, an ambulance would need to attend.
This means that the ambulance is freed up to attend more serious incidents.
