A county councillor has praised local firefighters for a swift response in Saundersfoot to a severe leak that has seen the seaside village’s Regency Hall venue forced to close for a week.
Saundersfoot’s Regency Hall closed on Saturday (February 4) due to an incident at the building, where firefighters from the Tenby and Pembroke stations attended.
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service stated: “On Saturday, February 4, at 10.14 am, crews from Tenby and Pembroke Dock attended an incident at Regency Hall, Saundersfoot. The incident involved internal flooding. Crews used Housing Ejector Pump. Crews left the scene at 12.26 pm.”
County councillor for the village’s south ward Cllr Chris Williams also thanked those involved, stating: “I would like to send out a big thank you for the professional service from Tenby Fire Brigade during the incident at the Regency Hall.
“They took control of the issues at the hall and carried out a swift response to the severe leak which was over the main electrical unit of the building. I’m sure this saved the hall from further damage.
“Also thanks to Allan from the library who alerted us to the problem and to Geoff Marsh from AC-DC Electrical and Television Services who dropped everything to respond to the electrical concerns of the building.
“Hopefully the Regency Hall will be able to get back in service soon, as this is a much needed facility for the village,” he added.
A spokesperson for the Regency Hall posted on Facebook: “Due to an incident earlier today, the hall will be closed for this coming week. Sunday 5th to Sunday 12th February. All tutors have been informed and we hope to be back open very soon.
“We would like to thank all those involved this morning especially Cllr Chris Williams, Anthony Mattick, Tenby Fire Station and AC-DC Electrical and Television Services.”
