With wildfires breaking out across various parts of the country, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have issued a warning after an incident on Wednesday in Saundersfoot involving the use of a barbecue on the beach
At 2.19pm on Wednesday, August 19, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Tenby Fire Station was mobilised to an incident at Glen Beach in Saundersfoot.
A spokesperson for the Fire Service stated: “The crew attended an incident involving the use of a barbecue on the beach. Individuals at the scene were instructed to extinguish the barbecue and remove it from the beach.
The crew left the scene at 2.59pm.
“Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service reminds the public to use barbecues responsibly and only in permitted areas,” continued the spokesperson.
“During periods of warm, dry weather, barbecues can pose a significant fire risk, as even small sparks or embers can quickly ignite dry grass, vegetation and other combustible materials.
“Always ensure barbecues are fully extinguished and safely disposed of after use.”
Saundersfot Harbour Commission shared: “Thank you to Tenby Fire Station who came out to Glen Beach to extinguish yet another BBQ fire. Fire service have given advise to those involved.”
