A man charged with causing criminal damage to a neighbour’s property in Pembroke has been fined in court.
Thirty-five-year-old Dean William Howells, of Commons Road, pleaded guilty to damaging a front door belonging to Martin Phillips, on July 15, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that Mr. Howells lives in a row of properties and the complainant was someone who lived nearby.
“The two males had an argument, the details of which are a bit sketchy, but it resulted in the defendant punching and kicking a hole in Mr. Phillips’s front door,” he said.
The court heard how Mr. Howells, in a police interview, didn’t want to talk about why the two males had argued, but admitted that it was clearly a reckless action even though he hadn’t intended to break the door.
Magistrates were told that the defendant was in breach of a conditional discharge for cannabis possession.
Defence solicitor Mark Layton said that his client was somewhat ‘annoyed’ and that he took his temper out on the door as a way of retaliation.
Magistrates fined Mr. Howells £180 for the offence and ordered him to pay compensation of £100 to the landlord of the property.
He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
