A Pembroke Dock woman has been fined in court for possessing cannabis.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kimberly Ann Sly, of Waterloo Road, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court, on Tuesday, charged with having 1.7 grams of herbal cannabis in her possession.
Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that police officers attended the defendant’s address on May 2, and executed a search warrant.
“Mrs. Sly handed officers a wrap containing the green like herbal substance and made full admissions. She has two previous convictions for cannabis possession,” explained Mr. Hussain.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and suffered with depression and anxiety, and smoked cannabis to alleviate this, as her prescribed medication had an adverse effect on her.
“Unfortunately, as she has been convicted of this type of offence previously, she has now become somewhat of an easy target for police,” he explained.
“The chances are, if they come to her door they are going to find small amounts of cannabis in her possession,” added Mr. Webb.
Magistrates fined Mrs. Sly £80 for the offence and ordered for the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis.
The defendant was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
