The Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel has endorsed the proposed 2026/27 precept of 7.47% by Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llewelyn during its first meeting of the year.

The precept of 7.47% equates to approximately £2.25 per month (£26.95 per annum) for the average Band D property and will raise a total precept of £93.033m to support a budget requirement of £161.905m.

The agreed precept will support targeted investment in policing services, with a focus on strengthening Local Policing Teams and supporting prevention activity.

In considering the proposed precept, the Panel considered a range of factors including future challenges such as cost pressures, service demand, staffing levels, future investments and efficiency.

Councillor Keith Evans of Ceredigion County Council, Vice-Chair of the Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel led the Panel’s scrutiny of the precept and said:“Members of the Police and Crime Panel have scrutinised the Police and Crime Commissioner’s budget for 2026/27, which included carrying out a detailed value for money analysis to ensure that it continues to deliver value for money for Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Powys and Pembrokeshire residents.

“Despite a continued difficult financial climate, we support the proposed precept in recognition that this will enable Dyfed Powys Police to serve and protect our communities.”
