A Pembroke man has been fined in court after admitting damaging a vehicle on a drunken night out.
Twenty-two-year-old Shane Goodridge, of The Green, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that the incident occurred in Milford Haven on December 9, when the complainant woke up at his home shortly before 3 am, when he heard a loud bang outside.
“He looked outside and saw the back windscreen wiper on his Renault Megane bent backwards and damage to his car. CCTV footage showed that the defendant had come up to the car and jumped on the boot,” explained Mr. Pritchard-Jones.
Police arrested Mr. Goodridge and when asked about the incident, he said: “I had a mood on and I damaged that car as I didn’t like it.”
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that Mr. Goodridge had been out with friends that night, and had “too much to drink.”
“He accepted when interviewed by police what he’d done, and said that he’d got in a mood as he formed the opinion that friends had taken his money, so he took it out on them and then the vehicle,” he said.
Magistrates fined Mr. Goodridge £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay £200 compensation to the victim.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
