A Monkton man who was seen acting suspiciously whilst riding a push bike has appeared in court charged with cannabis possession.
Twenty-seven-year-old Harry Alan Poole, of Colley Court, pleaded guilty to possessing a trace of cannabis when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told magistrates that on the evening of January 22, police officers had been asked to attend The Green in Pembroke, after reports of a male acting suspiciously in the forecourt of a petrol station.
“The defendant was riding a push bike and was acting very nervous and agitated. He had a pale complexion and officers thought he might be under the influence of some form of drug.
“Mr. Poole was searched and a cannabis joint was found on him. He has previous convictions, all seem to be cannabis related,” she continued, adding that the defendant was also in breach of a conditional discharge.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that Mr. Poole was currently under a programme with his doctors to ‘wean him off’ cannabis.
“Doctors have also recommended that he attends a mental health programme, so he is doing all he can,” he explained.
Magistrates fined Mr. Poole £140 for the offence and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge. A destruction order for the drugs was also passed.
