Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service held, for the second consecutive year, its Road Safety event, Cruz Cymru at The Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.
This road safety event gave all road users, emergency services and road safety partners an opportunity to gather in one place at the same time. It allowed Car Clubs and enthusiasts to come together and showcase their vehicles, in a friendly, safe, competitive manner; allowing visitors of all ages to enjoy a fun filled day.
It was supported by other agencies including, Go Safe, Road Safety Wales and Dyfed Powys Police.
Road Safety Manager for MAWWFRS, Richard Felton commented: “We welcomed over 400 cars this year and, by working alongside our Road Safety partners, the Cruz Cymru event enabled us to bring a focus onto Road Safety within Wales. The day was a huge success and allowed us and our partners to engage with over 3000 Welsh road users.
The standard of clubs and cars was outstanding and the participants clearly showed a desire to assist in helping us deliver Road Safety to all audiences of road users within Wales.”
He added, “This All Wales Fire and Rescue Service event shows our commitment to helping deliver the Welsh Governments Road Safety framework”.
Chair of the NFCC (Wales) Road Safety Group, Mydrian Harries commented, “This unique event has once again proved a huge success with everyone who attended. Road traffic collisions affect everyone within our communities, not least our valuable Emergency Services. Hosted by the three Fire & Rescue Services in Wales, the event places road safety in Wales at the heart of the everyone’s minds through embedding the FATAL 5 messages, creating a positive and long-lasting change in driving attitudes and behaviour”.
Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service would like to say thank you to everyone involved in making this day the success that it was. Working together, to make Welsh roads safer.
We are already looking forward to next year’s event and have set the wheels in motion for Cruz Cymru 2019!
