A Pembroke Dock man has been given a conditional discharge after admitting drugs charges in court.

Forty-six-year-old Mark Ion, of Meyrick Street, pleaded guilty to possessing 0.6 grams of amphetamine and 0.5 grams of herbal cannabis, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police had gone to speak to the defendant at his home on March 4, on an unrelated matter, and could smell cannabis emanating from the premises.

“Mr. Ion produced a small amount of cannabis from his trouser pocket and a small bag of amphetamine was found on the table. He has a long list of previous convictions,” he explained.

The court heard how Mr. Ion had been given a suspended prison sentence the week before in court for an unrelated matter, but that this offence had predated that matter.

Magistrates gave Mr. Ion a six month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
