A Clunderwen teenager has been given a 12 month ban after admitting a charge of drug-driving.
Nineteen-year-old Connor Lorch, of Efailwen, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to a charge of driving his VW Golf on the A478 with a quantity of cannabis in his system.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police stopped Mr. Lorch’s vehicle at around 10.30 pm on the night of Friday, October 19, as he had a defective brake light.
“Officers could smell cannabis coming from the vehicle when they spoke to the driver and he produced 2 grams of cannabis. They conducted a roadside drugs swab which proved positive and he was arrested and taken to the police station.”
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that Mr. Lorch had a previously clear record.
“He had consumed the cannabis some time ago, but as we know it stays in the system.
“It was a silly offence committed by a young man who was in with the wrong crowd at the time.
“Since the offence he has changed his life around and is now a trainee mechanic, so it has had a beneficial impact on him,” he added.
Magistrates disqualified Mr. Lorch from driving for 12 months and fined him £120 for the offence. He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
