Both of Tenby’s RNLI lifeboats were requested to launch just after 1.30 pm on Saturday, June 4, following a report that somebody had been injured while coasteering in the Lydstep Caverns area.

The volunteer crew were quickly on the water and made best speed in choppy conditions.

On arrival, the casualty was being assisted by Coastguard rescue team members and with conditions unfavourable for getting the casualty out by sea, a Coastguard rescue helicopter was called.

The lifeboats stood by and provided safety cover until the helicopter arrived to transport the casualty to hospital.

The lifeboats then returned to station, arriving at 3.30 pm.
