Police, investigating a fire at the multi-storey car park in Haverfordwest this week, have arrested three teenagers, aged 14, 15 and 17, on suspicion of arson.

They have been released under investigation pending further police enquiries.

Several fire engines arrived at the scene on Cartlett Road on Tuesday night, with the blaze first reported at approximately 9.30 pm. The road was closed around the car park whilst firefighters dealt with the incident.

Pembrokeshire County Council will now assess the full extent of the damage and liaise with the emergency services, after damage was caused to a stairwell.

The facility was closed to the public last month, for initial works ahead of full demolition and the site has been secured with fencing.

A new Public Transport Interchange is being built where the multi-storey stands.

The project is part of Pembrokeshire County Council’s wider regeneration work to revitalise Haverfordwest town centre.
