Angle RNLI’s all weather and inshore lifeboats were involved in a major search operation on Friday for a female passenger missing from the Pembroke Dock-Rosslare ferry.

The passenger was believed to have gone overboard from the Irish Ferries ship while en route to Ireland.

The two lifeboats were launched, at the request of the UK Coastguard, at 8.42 am and 8.47 am. Also assisting in the search were a UK Coastguard rescue helicopter, an Irish Coastguard rescue helicopter, Coastguard rescue teams from Llansteffan, Tenby and St. Govans, a Milford Haven Port Authority vessel and Dyfed Powys Police.

The lifeboats searched an area ranging from Grassholm Island to Neyland, until it was reported that a body had been located near Lawrenny.

Both lifeboats were stood down and returned to their station at 11.30 am.

The thoughts of all at Angle RNLI are with the family of the female ferry passenger at this sad time.
