Angle RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was launched in the early hours of Sunday to assist a Milford Haven pilot boat which had made hard contact with a ship while preparing to transfer two pilots.

The ship was approximately five miles south-west of St. Ann’s Head.

The pilot boat made best speed to the Milford Haven Port Authority jetty, as there were concerns that three of the five crew on board had sustained injuries.

The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched at 12.36 am and seven minutes later rendezvoused with the pilot boat alongside the Port Authority jetty.

Lifeboat volunteers boarded the pilot boat and, with Mid and West Wales Fire Service personnel, made casualty care assessments to the injured crew members. After being treated, the injured crew members were handed over to ambulance paramedics.

With no more assistance required, the lifeboat was released to return to her station, where she was rehoused shortly before 2.30 am.
