Angle RNLI lifeboat’s volunteer crew were tasked to three shouts in two days - including one to rescue two paddleboarders stranded on rocks.

At 11:37am on Sunday, July 13 the crew were paged to assist two stranded paddleboarders at The Green Bridge of Wales.

One had lost their board and had managed to clamber onto the rocks nearby. The lifeboat arrived on scene around 25 minutes later and located both casualties ashore below The Green Bridge.

The lifeboats inflatable Y boat was deployed and made its way in to recover the casualties. Both persons were transferred onto the lifeboat safe and well.

With no medical attention required, the crew made the short journey round to Frainslake where the Y boat was deployed once again to land the casualties ashore.

With both persons now landed safely ashore and in the care of St Govan’s Coastguard Rescue Team, the crew were stood down to return to station.

Whilst passing Chapel Bay and returning to station, the crew were retasked to assist in the medical evacuation of a female with a broken ankle at Kilroom Bay.

With difficult access and a long walk out, the crew were tasked to locate the casualty and assess the best method of extraction. Once on scene, the crew deployed the Y boat once again and headed in with casualty care trained crew members onboard to assess and treat the casualty.

Taking into consideration the difficult climb up from the beach, and the long walk back to the nearest accessible car park it was decided that the best method of extraction would be by boat.

The casualty was packaged into the lifeboats stretcher and transferred onto the All-Weather Lifeboat, before being put back into the Y boat and landed ashore onto the care of Dale Coastguard Rescue Team at Sandy Haven.

With the Y boat recovered and no further assistance required the crew were stood down and returned to station. The lifeboat was back alongside and readied for further service by 4pm.

On Monday afternoon at 4:09pm the crew received an immediate tasking to assist two children in difficulty in the water at Musselwick Sands.

However, as the crew were mustering the launch was subsequently cancelled as both casualties were recovered safe and well by a family member.
