Angle RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was alerted three times in 14 hours last Thursday and Friday, initially to assist Coastguard Rescue Officers from Dale, Broad Haven and St. David’s, along with Dyfed-Powys Police, in the search for a missing 16-year-old male in the Dale Fort area.

The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched at 10.12 pm on Thursday and reached the scene in nine minutes. After deploying her Y Boat, a thorough search of the area was undertaken utilising searchlights, night vision and illuminating flares.

With no sightings reported, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat was released at 12.25 am to return to her station, where she was rehoused 15 minutes later.

She was launched again within the hour to recover a casualty reported to be at the bottom of the cliffs at Dale Fort. At Dale, the Y Boat was deployed again and was guided ashore by Coastguard Rescue Officers.

The casualty was transferred to the lifeboat, which proceeded to the Milford Haven Port Authority jetty. There, at just after 2 am, the casualty was handed over to Ambulance and Police personnel.

With no more assistance required, the lifeboat was released and returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 3.55 am.

Later that day, the lifeboat was launched at 12.47 pm to assist Dyfed-Powys Police in the investigation of the previous tasking. Once satisfied that no further assistance was required, the lifeboat returned to her station to be rehoused at 2.44 pm.
