Angle RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was alerted on Sunday to assist a six-metre passenger dive RIB, with gearbox failure, approximately one mile west of Gateholm Island, near Marloes.

Another passenger vessel had taken the casualty’s passengers on board and had the stricken RIB in tow, but lifeboat assistance was requested as a precaution.

The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched at 4.13 pm and rendezvoused with the vessels at 4.30 pm. After conferring with both skippers, it was decided the tow would continue to Milford Haven with the lifeboat escorting.

When approaching the Valero Jetty, and after confirmation that both vessels required no assistance, the lifeboat was released to return to her station, where she was rehoused at 5.36 pm.
