Angle RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was alerted last Thursday evening (March 9), after a microlight aircraft crashed in the Milford Haven Waterway, off Rudders Boatyard, Burton.
The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched shortly before 6 pm and also responding to the incident were UK Coastguard rescue officers, a local range safety vessel, Dyfed Powys Police, the Ambulance Service and two leisure craft.
When the lifeboat reached the scene, it was reported that the single occupant of the microlight had swum to the shore, adjacent to Burton, and had been transferred to Rudders Boatyard by a local RIB.
The lifeboat’s Y Boat was launched and its two crew members went ashore to gather more information, while paramedics were assessing the casualty.
As no assistance was needed ashore, the Y Boat searched the shoreline and the lifeboat searched the main channel for any debris.
With no sightings, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 7.20pm.
