Senedd Member for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire has welcomed an announcement that one-hundred police officers have been recruited in Dyfed Powys since September 2019, bringing the total number of officers up to 1,263.

The latest figures are part of the UK Government’s drive to get 20,000 more police officers on the street by March 2023 and puts the UK Government on track to fulfil its manifesto commitment with 69per cent of the target having been met.

Commenting on the news, local Senedd Member, Samuel Kurtz said: “Having seen first-hand the fantastic work that our local police force does, I know just how valuable 100 more police officers will be in helping keep our communities safe.

“The 100 extra recruits mean there are now 1,263 police officers across Dyfed Powys, with each new addition helping us crack down on anti-social behaviour, prevent rural crime and clamp down on County Lines.

“We’re backing our police officers and making sure they have the powers they need to stamp out crime in our area.”
