Saundersfoot has seen 70 trees planted in the village this week, thanks to a legacy left by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Following the wishes of His Majesty The King, The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative was extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.
Following on from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, volunteers along with Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks Rangers planted 70 trees along with 120 hawthorn bushes at Saundersfoot's village playing fields on Tuesday (March 7).
“Shrublands Caravan Park have kindly donated the hawthorns to assist in the improvements at the Sports Field, whilst National Parks will assisting with the planting,” said County councillor Chris Williams.
Afterwards there was coffee and cakes provided by the Royal Oak as a thank you, kindly organised by Julie Davies of the Saundersfoot Wombles).
As well as thanks to Shrublands Caravan Park and the Royal Oak; many thanks of course went to everyone that volunteered and turned up to help with the planting.
