4th Tenby Guides recently held a party to celebrate their 90th birthday.

A number of former Guiders and friends of the unit were invited to join the Guides for cake and refreshments at the Scout and Guide Hall in Warren Street.

The cake was cut by Tia, the only Guide with a birthday in March, together with Mrs. Doreen Hammersley, who is a former 3rd Tenby Brownie and 4th Tenby Guide.

There was a collection of photos on display in the hall, spanning the 90 years of Tenby Guiding (the collection is currently on display in the window of TP Hughes, together with a collection by 3rd Tenby Brownies).

The Guides are currently working on the Together We Can Challenge which is based on the UN's eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The Guides have been finding out more about the goals and why they are so important, and are being encouraged to take action to do their bit to help achieve the MDGs.

The first initiative undertaken was to gather the contents for backpacks for the Mary's Meals project.

During the birthday celebrations, the Guides were delighted to be able to present Mrs. Walters, from Mary's Meals, with a number of backpacks.

One of the next projects will be to make sun dresses for the charity Hope International, which distributes pillowcase dresses across the developing world and their motto is 'Every girl deserves at least one pretty dress'.

The Guides are hoping that they will make 90 dresses in total.
