Three marathons in three days - that's the challenge facing a trio of local runners. Tenby firefighter and Pembrokeshire College lecturer, Nicky Rees, local businessman, Matthew Evans, and Llawhaden builder Steve Rogers are donning their running kits to take part in the Beachy Head, Snowdon and Dublin marathons in October to raise money for the Gareth Scotcher Trust Fund for Motor Neurone Disease. Beginning their 52.4-mile endeavour with one of the most challenging and picturesque courses, the Beachy Head marathon, on Saturday, October 28, they will then compete in the toughest marathon in Europe - Snowdon - on the Sunday, finishing with the Dublin event on Monday, October 30. The trio are already training hard for their challenge under the watchful eye of coach and running enthusiast, Pat Currie. As part of their fund-raising efforts, Nicky, Matthew and Steve will be publicising their marathon challenge by striding out on a treadmill outside Tenby's Pam Pam Restaurant and Grill in Tudor Square tomorrow (Saturday). They will each be running for 90 minutes, beginning at 12 noon. The restaurant has also generously agreed to give a percentage of every bill taken tomorrow (Saturday) to the cause. "We are looking forward to the event and urge people to come along and support the boys and the cause," said restaurant manageress, Kim Roberts. The runners will also have a supply of special '3 in 3' t-shirts, which are available in return for donations of £5 or more.
