The West Wales Children's Book Group celebrated its 10th birthday with a party at Roch CP School.

For the past decade, the group has been supporting reading and creative activities for young readers in Pembrokeshire.

Over 60 children attended the celebrations, which centred on the theme of memories.

Children were encouraged to bring along a favourite book from their earlier reading years, to share with others - and to feature in a specially created Banner of Bookshelves, which was completed with the aid of the guest presenter Fran Evans, the children's book illustrator from Llangwm.

She showed the children a variety of her latest publications, and encouraged them to Design a Spine for the party banner.

Several children won book prizes in the free raffle of titles donated by the Red House Children's Book Award, and everyone, including parents and helpers, enjoyed a slice of the home-made chocolate strawberry birthday cake.

The next major event of the West Wales Children's Book Group will be the Roald Dahl morning, on September 26 at Haverfordwest County Library to which everyone is warmly invited.
