Observer member of staff Lucie Mabbett was delighted to welcome one of the paper's oldest readers this week who had celebrated her 101st birthday just last week.

Mrs. Jessie Gilson, who has lived in Stepaside for over 42 years, is pictured with her carer when she called into our office to place a thank you notice to all of those who had sent her birthday cards and gifts.
