King’s Troop gallops into Pembrokeshire

One of the country’s most prestigious ceremonial regiments in the army galloped into South Pembrokeshire for their holidays this week.
The King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, based in St. John’s Wood, London, are currently staying at the Air Defence Range at Manorbier.
The Centre Section of the troop have been conducting training on the beaches (as can be seen from our picture taken on Tenby’s South Beach).
The holiday follows three weeks of carrying out Queen’s Life Guard duties at Horse Guards and provides a welcome break for both soldiers and horses after a very busy London ceremonial season.
As a finale to their visit to Pembrokeshire, the section will be holding an open day at the range tomorrow (Saturday), commencing at 1.45 pm.
They will be demonstrating the ability of the horses and riders from this unique organisation.
The afternoon will consist of a number of short military displays, gun drills, show jumping and mounted games.
Those attending will also have the opportunity to meet the horses and soldiers and observe some farriery and saddlers’ demonstrations.
There is free entry and car parking, with donations in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.
