All set for Rotary’s ‘Family Fun Harbour Spectacular’
Friday, 27 July 2012
West Wales Function Band, ‘Symphony Sid and the Swing Kings’ will perform at the Rotary Club of Tenby’s ‘Family Fun Harbour Spectacular this Sunday.
The Rotary Club of Tenby are pleased to announce the first Summer Event at Tenby Harbour this coming Sunday, July 29.
The family fun day will feature a wide array of local entertainment to suit all ages, as well as charity fundraising stalls and ones selling Welsh cakes, burgers, beer and soft drinks.
The event will be officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Caroline Thomas, at 4 pm, after which there will follow a host of entertainment in the marquee on the harbour car park which is sure to keep everyone well entertained.
The programme is as follows: 4.05 pm - Seren Irish Dancers. Pembrokeshire’s own Irish Dancing troupe who are always much enjoyed.
4.45 pm - The Vagrant’s Crew, an excellent Sea Shanty singing group from Pembroke Dock who are making a welcome return to our event.
6.15 pm - ‘Wings Over Pembrokeshire’. Be sure not to miss this act of talented local musicians who will be joined on stage by members of the Tenby and District Gateway Club singing many of your favourite and well-known songs.
7.30 pm - ‘The Frantic Five’. No event in Tenby would be complete without the evergreen Frantic Five to give you plenty of sounds to dance along to.
8.45 pm - ‘Symphony Sid and the Swing Kings’. As the name implies, they are the swing kings! This group is in high demand as one of Wales’ premier live ensembles and regularly appear across South Wales and the west of England, performing a wide range of music. The Rotary Club is delighted they are once again headlining our event.
10 pm - ‘Grand firework display’ from the end of Tenby Harbour. The ideal way to end the evening off.
Rotary Club of Tenby president Brian Charles is hopeful of good weather Sunday and said that the club was hoping a large crowd would turn out to enjoy the festivities on offer.
President Brian said: ‘The Rotary Club of Tenby gives everyone a very warm invitation to everyone to attend our ‘Family Fun Harbour Spectaculars’ on Sundays, July 29, and August 12. We are delighted to put on the events for the community, both as an enjoyable family holiday occasion, which is very important for a seaside resort like Tenby, and also as an important source of charity fundraising for our club.
“The costs of putting on the events is some £4,000, a considerable sum of money, and we merely ask all guests to donate a minimum of just £1 per person to our collectors to ensure that the events are a success and raise much needed funds for us to support as many charities and good causes as we can in the year ahead.
“We would be delighted to see you there, and hope you enjoy the events again this year.”
President Brian concluded: ‘On behalf of the club, I would like to sincerely thank everyone in advance in anticipation of your valued support, and hope that a great day is had by everyone.”
This year, the club is also pleased that several charities, including the Red Cross and Greenhill School supporters will be running fundraising stalls. All funds raised by these charities will be kept for their respective causes.
