An inspiring drumming demo and workshop was attended by local young drummers recently, thanks to the Pembrokeshire County Council’s music service.
Gareth Sanders-Swales, acting co-ordinator for the Pembrokeshire Music Service, organised the trip to the Drum Depot in Cardiff, Wales’ largest drum shop.
The young musicians enjoyed a performance on some top-of-the-range electronic drums, followed by a workshop where they tried the kit out themselves.
Gareth said: “The pupils had a fantastic opportunity provided to them by the staff of Drum Depot. They don’t hesitate to prioritise the musical development and encouragement of young drummers. Both the pupils and staff of Pembrokeshire Music Service are keen to continue to develop the link we have forged.”
Brett Sawmy, co-owner of Drum Depot, said: “The purpose of the Drum Depot Monday Club is to bring musicians together, to hang, to learn, to jam, to inspire and create an opportunity that may never had been there if it wasn’t for all of us pulling together.
“Well done Pembrokeshire Music Service for supporting the up and coming musicians of today!”
Some of the feedback from parents included: “I would just like to thank you for organising such a great trip. They had a fantastic time.”
